What happens in the vortex stays in the vortex.

What happens in the vortex stays in the vortex; but we will tell you all about it.

Diane just returned from Sedona Arizona and found inspiration in her distinctive surroundings. There were new textures and fresh colors everywhere like this army print Arizona Sycamore tree.

The colors outside are brought to the interiors; lots of earth tones and natural colors. The comforts of home are brought outdoors with open-air kitchens spaces and outdoor fireplaces creating living room settings in backyards.

The red rocks are formed by limestone and sandstone that has physically rusted due to iron oxide. A cooling effect is added by water features throughout to contrast the dry climate.

The houses are built to blend in with the surroundings. Even the shopping centers compliment the natural landscape.

Diane got shocked by her cell phone when she passed through a vortex.

They took a tour around the area in one of these breezy pink jeeps.

Montezuma’s castle is a multi-family dwelling built by the Sinaqua Indians over 700 years ago.
“Lucy, you got some splainin to do” Lucille balls old home…

Tlaquepaque (Diane’s new favorite word!) pronounced ta-la-ca-pa-kee is a romantic shopping center, as romantic as a shopping center can be. An old world feel with beautiful Spanish architecture of stucco buildings with red tile roofs. The courtyards have fountains and gardens. Love it there!!! This church was built into the rocks in the 50’s.

Let's Do Lunch!

Diane went to a luncheon with a colleague (oh that sounds so not Diane) with a friend (that’s better) to check out the Home Builders Association. The latest Home Building News insert in the Daily Journal of Commerce featured an article about the luncheon along with a photo of Diane. We can’t keep the paparazzi away from her!

IT'S ON THE WALLS!

We have to tell you about a local emerging artist that paints beautiful abstract landscapes.

Katie Todd paints horizons to give a sense of open space that she says “encourages a deep breath and quieted thoughts.” We love her work and the energy that it brings into any space.

If you have an empty wall that is screaming for a piece of art and you can’t find the right thing anywhere; Katie can custom create a landscape with your specific colors.

SPICE IT UP!

We have the secret ingredient!

Do you want it?

It is the easiest, cheapest and fastest way to make the biggest impact in any room.

Changing your wall color can make a huge transformation.
DON’T BE AFRAID OF COLOR!

Take a look at this downtown condo that was a blank slate when the owner bought it.
When we found out that our red headed client drove a red convertible sports car and was not afraid of color we were soooo excited to smother paint all over these white walls.

We went from this cold, boring, stale room…

To this warm, inviting, vibrant space!

It is always more fun to have clients that take risks that pay off in such a noticeable way.

Remember: IT'S ONLY PAINT and you can paint right over it if you don’t love it.

So spice up your life with a little color and a whole new look!

Step Up your Countertop Game!

Decisions, decisions, decisions!
We make lots of them every day, all the time.

But there are so many products out there to know about and new ones pop up every day!

With granite countertops alone there are endless options…
So here is some info to step up your granite countertop game.

Granite
The facts:
Formed from liquid magma
Solidified deep within the earth
Found on all continents
Has the durability of a diamond
Comes in countless colors and patterns

Natural stone varies so much the product can change depending on when it was taken from the ground. Granite comes in a large slab & you get to pick out your actual slab.

It’s decision time!
When selecting your favorite look there are many more things to consider.

Scale of Design?
People within the industry refer to some granite as to “having lot’s of movement” or being “salt & pepper”. This is describing the scale of the pattern in the stone.

"Salt & Pepper"

"Lot's of Movement"

2 cm or 3cm?
You can get your slab in a 2 centimeter or 3 centimeter thickness.
To use the correct lingo though you should call it 2cm or 3cm to sound like you are in the know.

Polished, Satin or Honed?
Polished is a smooth, shiny & reflective with richer and darker colors leaving your countertop sealed and easier to keep clean and free from staining.

Satin is the middle of the road with a light gloss. It is a relatively new option.

Honed is a smooth, matte surface without reflection. The depth of color is decreased but a more natural look is created.

What edge detail do you prefer?
It’s in the details! The edge you pick to have fabricated will help in creating the look you are going for.

So now you are wondering, which granites tend to be more expensive?

Blues

Greens

Granite with lots of movement

What about less expensive?

Neutrals

Salt & pepper

Having beautiful granite countertops in your home will definitely increase your resale value.
And it makes you feel pretty special too!
